Workshop scholarship experience recounted

Lilly Adkins was the WVWS workshop scholarship participant during the WVWS workshop in early August at Canaan Valley Resort State Park.

Lilly is a sophomore at WVU studying art.

Painting with Lilly (seated left) is her mother (seated right with scarf), who also dove into watercolor for the workshop.

Lily shared this reflection on her experience at the WVWS workshop:

“I had the privilege of attending the watercolor and wax workshop in Canaan Valley as a scholarship student for the West Virginia Watercolor Society. There I found an inclusive community filled with a variety of artistic styles, all while exploring a new technique.

“Each person brought different subjects, and interpretation of the materials that made every work truly original. You could tell there was a love of art that lived in each person and a willingness to share it.

Also, the scenic location of this resort offered plenty of inspiration that allowed you to come in each day refreshed with new ideas. I would encourage anyone thinking of attending a workshop to sign up, it truly is an experience that feels more like a vacation.”

WVWS thanks Lilly for embracing the experience and we look forward to seeing her creations!
