Mary Anne Hodson

Magic Garden West Virginia University graduate, Mary Anne Hodson and husband Don call Daniels, West Virginia home. Mary Anne, a native West Virginian, describes herself as wife, mother and artist, but admits that her artist's hat gathered dust until two ofher three sons were in high school. At that time, Hodson was introduced to Watercolor and that was the beginning of an obsession that continues today.

"Watercolor has become a way of life", states Mary Anne,"and attending WC workshops fills a need to continue to learnand grow as an artist." Hodson has studied with nationally known artists, Tony Van Hasselt, Barbara Nechis, Alex Powers, Tony Couch, Jeanne Dobie, Pat Lusk, Janet Walsh, Tom Lynch, Frederick Graft, Skip Lawrence, Brian Atyeo, Frank Webb, Judi Betts, Jan Kunz, Doug Walton and Kathy Curry among others.

Mary Anne's paintings have been juried into "Works on Walls", Huntington Museum, "WV Exhibition", Charleston Cultural Center, "WVWS Juried Shows", in Beckley, Elkins,Lewisburg, Morgantown and Charleston, WV. Beckley Art Group Juried Shows and BNI Juried Shows. Awards consist of 7 Best of Shows, an Award of Excellence, many ribbons and purchase awards.

Hodson is an active member of The Beckley Art Group, a signature member of the WV Watercolor Society, Hilton HeadArt League, Vienna Arts Society, and American Pen Women. Her transparent watercolors can be viewed in art galleries in Lewisburg, WV, Charleston, WV, Hilton Head, SC, Roanoke,VA, and Tamarack, the Best of West Virginia. Her paintings arefound in private and corporate collections in many states.

Hodson shares studio space with fellow artist, Barbara Daniel. "The Studio" gallery showcases Mary Anne and Barbara's work and reflects their shared love of transparent watercolor.
