Beckley Art Center is hosting a reception in honor of Mary Anne Hodson, signature member of WVWS, at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, at the gallery located at 600 Johnstown Road.
The public is invited to view and purchase Mary Anne’s paintings at the reception, with all proceeds going to support BAC, thanks to the generosity of the Hodson family.
A WVU graduate and West Virginia native, Mary Anne called Daniels, W.Va., home for many years, but she and husband Don have recently relocated to Roanoke, Va.
Mary Anne studied watercolor at workshops taught by Tony Van Hasselt, Barbara Nechis, Alex Powers, Tony Couch, Jeanne Dobie, Pat Lusk, Janet Walsh, Tom Lynch, Frederick Graff, Skip Lawrence, Brian Atyeo, Frank Webb, Judi Betts, Jan Kunz, Doug Walton, and Kathy Curry, among others. Her paintings have been juried into “Works on Walls” at the Huntington Museum of Art, the West Virginia Juried Exhibition biennial, the West Virginia Culture Center, Tamarack, the Cynthia Bickey Gallery at Beckley Art Center, and many WVWS juried exhibitions around the state.
She is an active member of BAC, and an active volunteer, exhibitor and supporter of the Bickey Gallery at BAC. She is a member of the American Pen Women of West Virginia, Allied Artists of West Virginia, and her watercolors can be found in private and corporate collections in many states.
