WVWS Workshop: ‘Atmospheric Landscapes’

UPDATE: The Supply List for the workshop has been added to this post. See the button link at the bottom of the article.

Robin Poteet of Salem, Va., will return to be the instructor for the 2022 WVWS workshop, with this year’s focus on painting “Atmospheric Landscapes in Watercolor.”

WVWS workshop coordinator Judy Reed reports that dates for the 2022 workshop will be July 27 – 31, and the workshop will be held at Canaan Valley Resort State Park, located near Davis, W.Va.

Robin was formerly a graphic designer who transitioned to full-time painting in 2010. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards and has been featured in books and magazines. Last year she led WVWS in a workshop that used wax and watercolor together to create batik-style paintings.

Robin Poteet is passionate about watercolor and believes paintings are their best when we work with the medium rather than exert too much control. She also believes that watercolor is the perfect medium for painting landscapes and is excited to share her passion for capturing the world around us.

In this 3- and a 1/2-day workshop, Robin plans for the days to be filled with brief, focused demos, lively discussions, exercises, and plenty of painting time with individual attention. Some topics she will cover are creating dynamic skies and clouds, editing out clutter, connecting shapes, mixing believable greens, fog and mist, color schemes and much more.

WVWS is very proud to have Robin back to inspire and teach us more of the watercolor media we love so much.

Please read the Workshop Description for more information on the workshop.

The workshop fee (which only covers the workshop, not accommodations or food) will be $300 for West Virginia Watercolor Society members, and $335 for nonmembers.

Please see the Registration Form for more information on reserving a spot in the workshop.

A limited number of rooms at the Canaan lodge are available at a group rate; information about reserving these rooms is also noted on the registration form.
