Art and music have been an important part of my life since early childhood. My father studied at the Chicago Art Institute, and was a musician as well. So while we watched him paint and heard him sing, we took both for granted. Perhaps that is why I chose to study the sciences in college. In both high school and college, however, I took art classes, but painted infrequently in the following years. After retirement from classroom teaching, I resumed painting weekly with Peggy Isaack until her death in 2014. Since then I study independently and attend 3-4 workshops per year. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and each day I joyfully paint or sketch to improve my skills. Wherever I go, my paints go with me.
