Welcome to the West Virginia Watercolor Society!
2009 marked the 25th anniversary of our watercolor society, and I am very excited about our 25th Anniversary Exhibit! The exhibit, which currently is traveling around the state, is also available for viewing as an online slideshow. Just click the link in the first sentence to go to the juried exhibit page.

In planning this over the last two years, I thought the phrase "25 Years of Excellence" reflected the high standard of quality in water media we have in our membership. Several of our artists are also juried and signature members of national societies, as well as established artists in their local business communities.
To promote and ensure the high standards of the art of watercolor painting in the state of West Virginia" is a slogan that is put into action by our members who teach professionally in public schools and the retirees who still teach community classes. These fabulous artists are building a legacy of excellence that will continue to grow far into the future.
The anniversary exhibit shows the diversity of our members from Kenneth Waddell's "life-like" Festival of daisies to the misty morning blues of Betty Neely -- all points of the art spectrum are well represented.
This exhibit also marks the appearance of some new techniques such as using supports such as Aquabord and Yupo paper, which give a whole new appearance to watermedia.
Please join with us in this celebration of our past and push toward the future that is bright and very colorful indeed.
